Restoring Your MotionEdge Pro Purchase
Got a new phone? Reinstalled the app? Seeing the Pro upgrade prompt even though you know you're subscribed? Restore Purchases fixes all of those. It asks the App Store to re-check the Apple Account you're signed in with, finds your active MotionEdge Pro subscription, and unlocks Pro on the device you're holding.
There's no MotionEdge account, username, or password involved — your subscription lives with your Apple Account, the same one you use for the App Store. Restoring is free and you can do it as many times as you like. It never charges you anything.
When you'd need this
- You got a new iPhone, iPad, or Mac and installed MotionEdge on it
- You deleted and reinstalled the app and Pro features are showing locked
- You subscribed on one device and want Pro active on another one
- A family member subscribed to Pro and you want it on your device through Apple Family Sharing
- Pro features stopped responding after an App Store hiccup — a restore re-syncs everything
How to restore on iPhone or iPad
- From the Sessions tab, open the overflow menu (⋯) in the top-right corner and choose Settings
- Scroll down to the About section
- Tap Restore Purchases (it's right below the License row)
How to restore on Mac
- Open Settings from the MotionEdge menu in the menu bar (or press ⌘,)
- Click the About tab
- Click Restore Purchases
You can also restore from the upgrade screen
Any time you see the MotionEdge Pro upgrade screen — for example, after tapping a Pro feature — there's a Restore Purchases button on that screen too. If you're staring at an upgrade prompt you know you shouldn't be seeing, that button is the fastest fix.
What you'll see
After a moment, one of three messages appears:
- "Purchases Restored" — your MotionEdge Pro subscription was found and restored. Pro features unlock immediately.
- "Nothing to Restore" — the App Store didn't find an active purchase for the Apple Account this device is signed in with. See the troubleshooting steps below.
- "Couldn't Restore Purchases" — something went wrong talking to the App Store, usually a network issue. Check your connection and try again.
You can confirm the result at a glance: the License row in Settings → About shows your current standing — Free, Trial, or Pro.
If you see "Nothing to Restore"
Almost every restore problem comes down to the Apple Account. Work through these:
- Check which Apple Account this device uses. Open the device's Settings app → [your name] on iPhone or iPad, or System Settings → [your name] on Mac. Is it the same Apple Account that originally subscribed? A restore can only find purchases made by the account the device is signed in with.
- Confirm the subscription is actually active. On iPhone or iPad, go to the device's Settings app → [your name] → Subscriptions and look for MotionEdge. On Mac, it's System Settings → [your name] → Media & Purchases → Subscriptions. If it expired or was cancelled, resubscribing from the upgrade screen turns Pro back on.
- Using Family Sharing? Make sure the subscriber has Share with Family turned on for their MotionEdge subscription (in that same Subscriptions screen, on their device), and that you're both in the same Family Sharing group. Then run Restore Purchases on your device again. See Practicing Golf as a Family for the full setup.
- Still stuck? Reach us at support@motionedge.ai — include what the License row in Settings → About says and we'll get you sorted.
What about AI Coach Packs?
If you've bought AI Coach Packs, there's nothing extra to do. Your pack balance is tied to your subscription, not to a single device — once your Pro subscription is restored, your remaining pack credits come back with it automatically.
Restoring purchases doesn't restore your swings
"Restore Purchases" only re-activates your subscription. Your swing library — videos, metrics, drawings, sessions — is a separate thing:
- If you use iCloud sync (a Pro feature), your sessions download to the new device automatically once Pro is restored and sync is turned on. See iCloud Sync.
- Without iCloud sync, you can move sessions between devices yourself with a free .mef export from the old device.
So on a new device, the order is: install MotionEdge → Restore Purchases → turn on iCloud sync (or import your .mef files) — and you're back to where you left off.
